A track record on some of Australia’s leading golf courses
A regular fixture in Australia’s top 10 rankings, and home to one of the country’s most iconic par-5’s, New South Wales Golf Club is the kind of course where the greens have to match the drama of the golf around them.
When the club rebuilt all 18 greens in 2024, it chose 777 Creeping Bentgrass for its fine density, true ball roll and tolerance of very low mowing. Superintendent Mark Parker, who’d worked with StrathAyr previously at Concord Golf Club, brought that relationship to the project.
We grew the turf in Tasmania and sent it north in refrigerated containers to arrive fresh for planting.

Consistently ranking in the top 20 courses in Australia, The Lakes Golf Club has hosted the Australian Open on multiple occasions, so high-quality turf is imperative to the club.
In 2024, StrathAyr Tasmania supplied The Lakes with 3 new Penn A4 Bentgrass greens, chosen for its fine leaf texture and dense, upright growth habit — giving the tight, true putting surface a tournament venue needs, while holding up to the low mowing heights required to keep greens running at championship pace.

Close to home for our Tasmanian farms, Country Club Tasmania’s new Championship Golf Course is being fitted out with MacDonald Bentgrass across its undulating greens. The redeveloped course, part of a major transformation designed by architect Robin Gibson, is set to open in summer 2026/27.
Our golf varieties are grown to contract for your specific project, not pulled from generic lawn stock.
Cooler growing conditions produce the fine leaf density and tight canopy that golf courses need, a result that’s harder to achieve in warmer mainland climates.
Nearly 50 years of turf growing experience, with a track record on golf courses across NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
We don’t limit ourselves to a fixed product list. StrathAyr Tasmania grows a wide range of bentgrass and fine fescue varieties to order, matched to your course’s specific requirements.
